Origin of the species

I just read a friend's friend's blog talking about the top ten movers and shakers and how actually, the people who have made this list are alta de ciudad people who normal people can't relate to, nor do they know them..

Then today, I had a discussion with a friend about a new office mate who comes from U.P. who asked me where I went to H.S. The U.P. girl sort of gave me a funny look when I said 'San Agustin'..especially since I have chosen to live in quiet Laos, a far cry from the social whirlwind one can get lost in in Manila. I told my friend how the U.P. girl was surprised that I preferred it here, and how the U.P. girl found it odd that I would relinquish such a lifestyle that I am accustomed to (read: spoiled privileged life). My friend seemed aghast at that response and said lucky it was you she was speaking to, if she said anything like that to me I would have asked her if her dad was the one serving me drinks in San Mig.

I find U.P. girls response more amusing than I did my friend's. Its true, no wonder people brand people in this way because we have prime examples such as my friend on those who have led spoiled privileged lives. So the tags of cono and sosy and jologs, well they originate from people who personify such tags.

In some ways I am appalled by such attitudes, from either end of the spectrum, as I am a laura ashley balloon holding type of girl who wishes we all just get along, but I guess this is merely a dream since the world is full of people like these...

2012

2012 is here:

1. Mikey is not here (in the physical form) anymore..and no I am not trying to creep you out by saying spiritually he still is, but he lives on in me, so I try not to be so sad about it. Ofcourse I have my moments, but it is to be expected.

2. New year, new baby. nearly 4 months pregs and feeling like I look 6 months pregnant...nice. other than this, everything seems to be okay, ultrasounds done and nothing out of the ordinary. Don't get me wrong, I know this is a blessing.

3. 2 years of marriage. I am blessed. Perhaps this is why I blog less, i've lost my angsty edge (hmm okay maybe not) but perhaps I just feel more kung fu panda centered.

Resolutions:

1. To get less affected by other people's melodrama.
I asked P the other day how it feels to be married to me. He said that we have enough challenges to keep us busy and not bored but overall life is easy because we are together. I'm guessing to some extent this is how it should be no? Therefore I am going to avoid others melodrama and minimize interaction with those that bring it into my life. I'm sort of sick and freaking tired of it already.

2. To be less critical of those that surround me.
I think I got this bad habit from my mother (sorry Ma, its true). People do the best that they can, and I should be grateful for that. And those that dont? Well, go back to item 1.

3. Save a little more.
I have always sucked at saving..I used to have a running tab with my credit card at 60,000 pesos. Now that they have increased my limit (120) I seem to be spending that amount every freaking month as I pay it off every month..sheesh. Then again, I used to spend my money on more trivial things (read: boozing) now at least its in assets. But still, save a little more for the kids and for us.
